Why you’re here (there is a reason)

So, Who Are You Anyway?

I appreciate your interest!

Hey, I’m David Andrew Wiebe.

This is going to be redundant to some, but so long as there are curious and confused souls, I’ll happily answer this question.

I’m the founder and CEO of Music Entrepreneur HQ and Content Marketing Musician. I’m the best-selling author of five books, and host of The New Music Industry Podcast. I have been coaching and training musicians and music entrepreneurs since 2009.

I’m also the co-founder of The Indie YYC community, and I have a music career spanning over two decades.

I’ve had the opportunity to do a lot of…

And what I discovered

Publishing daily for a full year will solve all your business problems.

Urged on by this lofty promise, on July 28, 2020, I set out to create and publish new blog posts daily for a full year.

Although I was skeptical of the promise itself, when I was presented with the challenge, it was almost as if I was waiting for the permission to do it. I got excited and got started as soon as I could.

It’s now a year later, and I can honestly say I barely recognize myself. But I will get to that. …

On July 28, 2021, I made the commitment to publish daily for a full year.

Tomorrow, I will have fulfilled on that promise.

And if I’m being perfectly honest, I published as many as four times on some days. That may not be evident from the archives, but if you go looking across Music Entrepreneur HQ, Music Industry How To, MIDINation, Medium, News Break, and Steemit, you’ll see what I’m referring to.

I seriously considered whether to continue for another year. That’s how rewarding this process has been. …

Musical Doodles

In the last couple of weeks, I made a couple of musical doodles to send specifically to my partner in crime, Karlo Keet of Catstar Images. I’ve been sending weekly customized texts to my team members (to keep related and connected individually), so I’ve basically been creating these as an extension of outreach efforts.

So far, the process has basically been (not necessarily in this order):

  • Bust out the M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 MK3 and write a keyboard riff.
  • Record a vocal line in a ridiculous voice with silly, funny lyrics.
  • Add anything else I want in there (like a…

All the Results You’ve Ever Gotten
All the Results You’ve Ever Gotten

Can be traced back to a conversation you’ve had.

Your relationships. Your financial situation. Your business, your fitness level, your well-being.

It all lives in conversation.

This may not be immediately apparent, because we think of conversations as things to be had with others. But it’s crucial to realize we also have conversations with ourselves.

As human beings, our thoughts are predominantly negative, so we’ve perpetuated conversations like “I’m not attractive,” “I’m broke,” “I’m fat and unhealthy,” and so on.

This is what’s familiar. But if you never challenge the familiar, you will always live in it. …

This is what’s really in the way of your dream life

What’s in the Way?
What’s in the Way?

Know it or not, there is something holding you back. Something all-pervasive. It’s been with you since you were young. And the longer you’ve lived with it, the more you’ve accepted it as the status quo. It’s the predominant way you view the world, and because of that, the results you get in life are largely determined by it. You may step outside of it on occasion, but like a momentary lapse, it never takes.

This is the lens through which you view life.

The lens through I which I view the world is something along the lines of:

Who’s at the Steering Wheel?

Some days, I don’t feel like I’m the one at the steering wheel. I feel like god, the universe, or some other unnamed force is.

I met a friend for a quick chat at Starbucks today. When I showed up, he was there with another friend, who shared:

God can bring you exactly where you need to go. You don’t need a phone. You just need to pay attention to signs and promptings. It’s the same thing with rest. Rest is an essential part of life, and when you are prompted to rest, the best idea is to rest.

As you may know, I’m currently taking a leadership and management program.

As a participant, each quarter, I’m encouraged to take on a personal project. This project, as I understand it, can basically take any form.

In my first quarter, I’ve opted to build my music biz membership while raising funds for the education of underprivileged children. I plan to give 50% of the proceeds to this cause.

I do not have a support statement from the organization I’m supporting, so I will not mention it here, but suffice it to say it’s the same cause my dad and grandparents…
